Measuring carbon dioxide in indoor spaces is a good indicator of the risk of becoming infected with coronavirus, according to a new study by University of Colorado Boulder researchers.
Outdoors, CO2 levels are just above 400 parts per million (ppm). A well-ventilated room will have around 800 ppm of CO2 . Any higher than that and it is a sign the room might need more ventilation.
By this estimate, current levels of carbon dioxide already result in an indoor value of 809 ppm. If we don’t slow our emissions and we get to 930 ppm outside, we’ll get over 1,250 ppm indoors.
