Offensive guard Walt Sweeney spent 11 years with the Chargers and two with the Washington Redskins. He died Saturday at 71.

SAN DIEGO -- Walt Sweeney, a standout offensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers in the 1960s and 1970s, has died at 71. The Chargers ' website says Sweeney died Sunday of pancreatic cancer.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Walt Sweeney, a standout offensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers in the 1960s and 1970s, has died at 71. The Chargers website says Sweeney died of pancreatic cancer on Saturday.

Former Chargers All Pro guard Walt Sweeney passed away over the weekend from pancreatic cancer. Sweeney, 71, was in the Chargers Hall of Fame and a member of the Ring of Honor.
