The Wisconsin Supreme Court said on Friday that the state’s heavily gerrymandered legislative maps that favor Republicans were unconstitutional and ordered new maps before the 2024 election.
The new maps, which were drawn by the state’s Democratic governor, Tony Evers, and signed into law Monday, include an almost even split between Democratic- and Republican-leaning districts.
Wisconsin has long been a presidential swing state, but thanks to new maps, it's now also a potential swing state for the legislature for the first time in 15 years.
