BOSTON — It’s been eight years. But Charlie McAvoy isn’t taking any chances. Superstitions are superstitions. When he played for Team USA at the 2017 World Junior Championships, the Americans won a gold medal and he, then a Bruins prospect was named to the tournament’s All-Star team. And McAvoy wore number 25.

Thirteen field hockey players who hail from Pennsylvania were among the 37 players named to the 2025 U.S. Women’s National Team on Tuesday. The team includes 13 Olympians and six newcomers, including high school sensation Reese D’Ariano from West Chester, who attends Pa. Leadership Charter School.

On top of welcoming his first child with his wife, Kiley, on Sunday, the Boston Bruins defenseman was named an alternate captain for Team USA for the upcoming NHL 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
