Powerful earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria last week had resulted in more than 41,000 deaths as of Tuesday. It is among most devastating and deadliest disasters seen in recent history.

The death toll has been staggering and has surpassed 37,000 people. As of Feb. 14, 31,974 deaths were reported in Turkey and more than 5,800 in Syria, according to the U.N. and Syrian government.
