An electric wheelchair is at the heart of the build. After ripping out its internals, the two motors with gearboxes are directly connected to the two tracks, allowing differential steering.

The Scalevo wheelchair (pictured) was built by engineering students at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. It uses rubber tracks to pull itself up staircases backwards.
