ASSISI, ITALY - OCTOBER 10: A tapestry featuring a portrait of Carlo Acutis is hang at the St. Francis Basilica during the beatification ceremony of Carlo Acutis, on October 10, 2020 in Assisi, Italy.
An Italian teen — Carlo Acutis, who was 15 when he died of leukemia in 2006 — is poised to become the first millennial saint, according to Pope Leo.
Acutis was 15 when he died in northern Italy in 2006, after a short bout with leukemia. He has become enormously popular especially among young Catholics who have been flocking to his tomb in Assisi.
After his death, Acutis' body was put on display in Assisi, Italy. The late teen was originally set to be canonized on April 27. However, the ceremony was delayed by the death of Pope Francis.
