Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 8 and 36 in Texas to boost border security and law enforcement collaboration.

The Texas House gave initial approval on Saturday to a Senate Bill 8, which would require sheriffs to collaborate with ICE by serving federal immigration warrants at local jails.

SB 8 now returns to the Senate. The upper chamber must agree to the changes, or both chambers must iron out their differences, before the bill can be sent to Gov. Greg Abbott .
