Tambar platform. Steve Marshall; Aker BP has given the go-ahead for the Nkr1.7 billion ($199.2 million) redevelopment of Tambar to boost recovery and extend the lifetime of the Norwegian oilfield.

The Tambar and Tambar East satellite fields are being produced with a total of four wells via an unmanned wellhead platform tied back to the Aker BP-operated Ula field at a distance of 16 kilometres.

Maersk Drilling said on Friday that an employee, a Norwegian citizen, has died following an accident on a drilling rig at Aker BP's Tambar oilfield off Norway on Thursday.
