Galesburg dented the scoreboard first, but East Moline United Township responded to earn a 63-46 decision in Illinois high school football on Oct. 20.

East Moline United Township broke on top and refused to fold in holding off Galesburg 69-61 in Illinois boys basketball action on Dec. 8.

Last season, Moline and Sterling faced off on Oct. 14, 2022 at Moline High School. Recently on Oct. 6, Moline squared off with East Moline United Township in a football game.

John was born March 21, 1946, in Moline, IL, a son of Francisco “Frank” and Lupe (Negrete) Gomez. He graduated from United Township High School, East Moline.

East Moline is one step closer to getting new boundaries for its elementary schools. The board of education approved a preliminary district map on Monday, June 16.
