PITTSBURGH — A fan who called upon Steelers Nation has an update in the search for a missing Terrible Towel that holds more meaning than just a symbol of support for the black and gold.
On Dec. 27, 1975, The Terrible Towel debuted. It was the creation of legendary sports radio broadcaster Myron Cope, who worked for WTAE — the Pittsburgh Steelers’ flagship station.
The Steelers beat the Colts that day 28-10, cementing the Terrible Towel in Steelers lore. Had Pittsburgh lost the game that day, who knows what would have become of the Terrible Towel.
