As well as supporting Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 instruments on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, Harmonix has also revealed a new guitar and drum kit for Rock Band 4 for those new to the series.

Harmonix is not only the developer behind the Rock Band franchise, which first launched eight years ago, but also the developer of Dance Central, Fantasia: Music Evolved and the original Guitar Hero.

"[The Rock Band and Dance Central franchises] are near ... For its part, Activision has also suggested that the Guitar Hero series, put on hiatus in 2011, could come back some day.

The Rock Band series may not be the only music-rhythm series making a comeback. Activision has also teased that the Guitar Hero series will return some day.

After news of a possible return for Rock Band emerged yesterday it now seems that Activision is to resurrect the Guitar Hero franchise with an all-new take for the new generation of consoles.

Not interested in Rock Band? Activision is rumored to be working on an all-new Guitar Hero game for Xbox One and PS4, also due to launch in 2015.
