Chase Elliott took advantage of heavy rain at Dover Motor Speedway to earn the pole for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race.
Next week, a cold front brings more comfortable conditions. Highs fall to the low and mid 80s for several days. The humidity levels drop as well making it feel more like spring rather than summer. Slight rain chances return late next week as temperatures climb back into the low 90s.

Upper-level high pressure will start inching closer on Sunday, meaning our rain chances will drop further. A couple isolated showers or storms still may develop so keep an eye on the sky anyways. But with a lower coverage of rain comes hotter temps, back into the low 90’s for highs and heat indices between 100-105 degrees.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday and Sunday in the Lehigh Valley, with a “more pleasant” air mass moving in to start the new week.
Saturday evening rain and thunderstorms began forming over and moving into NCWV from the west. A cold front will begin approaching the tropical air mass currently over NCWV on Sunday afternoon. The proximity of this front will ignite rain and storm activity ahead of the frontal boundary.

Isolated morning showers are possible in northern Missouri, but nearly everyone will remain dry. An Extreme Heat Warning begins at noon as temperatures climb to the low 90s and the heat index rises to 100 to 105 degrees.
