The convicted murderer, 30, appeared in an Idaho courtroom this afternoon for his sentencing hearing, three weeks after appearing in the same Boise courtroom and confessing to the murders of those four friends: Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20.

Judge Steven Hippler ordered Kohberger to serve four life sentences without parole for four counts of first-degree murder in the brutal stabbing deaths of Mogen, Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin early on Nov. 13, 2022. He was also given a 10-year sentence for burglary and assessed $270,000 in fines and civil penalties.

I am unable to come up with anything redeeming about Mr. Kohberger,” Judge Steven Hippler said. “His actions have made him the worst of the worse.”
