Haaland gets Dem opponent in New Mexico governor race

Former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland got her first major Democratic competitor Thursday in her race to be New Mexico’s next governor. Sam Bregman, the district attorney for Bernalillo County, had been rumored for months to be considering a run. He has been the top prosecutor in the county that includes Albuquerque since 2023.
