The NYPD says one of two people who were shot at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Westchester Avenue has died.
The lawsuits, by four former police officers, claim that a culture of cronyism ruled the department. James Essig, who was chief of detectives, said that promotions were sold for $15,000.
The NYPD's homeless outreach unit, made up of 86 officers, is being reassigned. NY1 has also learned the NYPD will no longer oversee security at the city’s homeless shelters.
