New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged state lawmakers Tuesday to provide his administration with more migrant crisis funding this year — but his plea didn’t move the needle with Gov. Kathy Hochul, who has already declared she’s not looking to earmark more such resources for the city.

The mayor’s budget relies on additional money from the state to cover a looming shortfall in its migrant care program.

Mayor Eric Adams asked state lawmakers on Tuesday to send the city more money for migrants, approve his proposed tax cut for low earners and change laws to allow for more involuntary hospitalizations — at times facing tough questions from his own re-election challengers.
