One of the weather service’s maps shows the expected ranges of snowfall amounts in Massachusetts. As many as 8 to 12 inches is expected in western Franklin County and northern Worcester County.

In central Massachusetts, there's a chance of some wet snow mixing and a light accumulation in the northern Worcester Hills, particularly those towns with an elevation near or over 1,000 feet.

As of Thursday morning, the main areas at risk of snow were expected to be over 1,000 feet in elevation. But that cutoff was not exact and could change, the weather service said.
