A convicted felon was arrested early Tuesday after authorities say he fired a flare gun at a Marion County sheriff’s deputy during a bizarre encounter on Highway 19.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was charged with one count of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to commit racketeering, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier's office said in a statement.
