The Boston Red Sox sent shockwaves through Major League Baseball on Sunday night. After sweeping their biggest rivals, the New York Yankees, Boston stunned fans by unexpectedly trading away their top offensive star, Rafael Devers.

This hasn't been the baseball season Gerrit Cole would've drawn up for himself. The New York Yankees' right-handed ace won't throw a single inning all year. He tore his UCL and is out for the season after spring Tommy John surgery.

Red Sox Alex Cora credited every part of his club for their sweep of the Yankees. They are 5-1 against the Bombers this year.

Furious with a foul ball call, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected in the 10th inning. New York ended up being walked off in the bottom of the 10th, and several Yankees fans have been calling for MLB to make umpiring changes. "umps need to get fined," one claimed.

In winning 10 of their last 15 games, the Red Sox vaulted the .500 mark for the first time since May 24, and creeped within 6 ½ games of the front-running Yankees. And now a nine-game trip that includes a visit to San Francisco and old friend Devers looms.

The Mariners could be in the market for an Orioles slugger as the MLB trade deadline approaches this season. The trade deadline in Major League Baseball is rapidly approaching, with just inside six weeks until the deadline hits.
