Overall, the project will encircle parts of Port Monmouth in 7,070 feet of levees, 3,585 feet of floodwalls and 2,640 feet of dune, according to the Army Corps of Engineers ' website.
The levee also would cost about $67,000 to maintain each year. The Army Corps projects the levee would save $4 million annually between 2030 and 2080 by preventing damage to homes and infrastructure.
