NBC 5’s Vince Sims has more. The driver of a dump truck is in critical condition after a crash sent his rig careening into a home in northwest Tarrant County on Friday morning.

Police said the dump truck struck and killed 34-year-old Zachary Shepard of Newport in a crosswalk just before 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Sunapee and Central streets, police said.

No injuries were reported. This potential fire hazard has led to Huffy recalling 23,260 Tonka Dump Truck toys on Thursday, April 24, 2025, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“This dump truck came careening out of control down Clark Street into the back of the Whisky a Go Go, taking out six different cars,” said KCAL News’ Desmond Shaw in a Friday segment.
