When Steven Spielberg started filming “Jaws” on May 2, 1974, Martha’s Vineyard began its long association with the movie’s fictitious location, Amity Island. The Massachusetts island reprised its role in “Jaws 2” and the infamous final film in the franchise, “Jaws: The Revenge.”

Now, Yankee Magazine is publishing some rare photos from the legendary film, both on its website and in their upcoming July edition. Peter Vandermark, a photojournalist and retired Boston University journalism professor, reached out to Yankee Magazine wanting to share some photos he took in 1974, when "Jaws" was filming on the island.
