Turkey launched an operation inside Syria on August 2016 alongside allied opposition forces and managed to retake the IS stronghold of Jarabulus and the symbolically important town of Dabiq.

The brigade, one of the entities that was sanctioned, is an armed militia that was created by Amsha in 2016 in the town of Jarabulus in northern Syria on the border with Turkey.

Jarabulus is a strategic town on the west bank of the Euphrates River on Syria’s border with Turkey.
