At MINExpo 2008, Hitachi had on display two of its new five Dash-6 mining-sized excavators: the EX3600-6 and the EX5500-6. The other new mining excavators are the EX1900-6, EX2500-6, and the EX8000-6.

According to a November 4 report from Bloomberg, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (HCME) is to build its third mining equipment factory in Japan as demand for thermal coal rises in Asia.
