A 5-year-old girl who fell overboard off a Disney cruise ship reportedly fell backward through a porthole. The investigation is continuing into the incident that happened June 29 as the ship was returning to Fort Lauderdale after a four-day cruise.

The 5-year-old girl who fell from a Disney cruise was not placed on the ship's railing by her dad, authorities tell PEOPLE. The girl fell overboard, followed by her dad who jumped in to save her. Both were rescued and returned to the ship.
