The work of a renowned Ballinskelligs writer is showcased in a new Irish language book ‘Glór ón Sceilg’ which will be launched at 6pm in Cahersiveen library on Thursday (May 8).

A new book collects the writings and lore on the famous Kerry islands and surrounding area by a man who lived most of his life in Ballinskelligs, says Marjorie Brennan.

Born on May 31st, 1906 in Ballinskelligs, Co Kerry, he was the youngest of the seven children of John Kirby, fisherman and small farmer, and his wife, Mary (née Cremin).
