The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority says a decision will come in weeks, not months.

That deal began when the arena reopened with a convention center addition in 2005 and was to have expired in June 2021. The MassMutual name remains on the building pending a new deal.

The current work is for a temporary location. A permanent center is likely still close to ten years away, and dependent on possible funding secured through a bond referendum in 2026.
