Residents in the Vancouver and Camas area may have felt a small 2.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday evening.

People in Camas, Washougal and East Vancouver felt a few seconds of shaking from a 2.8 magnitude earthquake around 7 p.m. Monday.

The chances for a 6.0 magnitude or greater earthquake to occur along the Seattle Fault within the next 30 years is 80-85%, according to one seismologist.

Mount Rainier on Tuesday experienced its largest seismic activity since 2009, with a swarm of small earthquakes detected.

The earthquake shook just before 7 p.m. near Fern Prairie, Washington, just north of Camas in Clark County. The USGS said the quake had a depth of roughly 2.3 miles.

There have been three earthquakes in the Puget Sound region in less than a week, two have hit Bremerton in two days.

The USGS said this earthquake had a depth of 2.8 miles. The “epicenter” of the quake, according to USGS, took place between NW Parker St/NW Leadbetter in Camas.
