Zohran Mamdani delivered a political earthquake Tuesday in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary, riding progressive demands for change in a city facing an affordability crisis to the brink of a stunning victory.

Mamdani said his city would be one "governed as a model for the Democratic Party," which would prioritize the working class and fight Trump.

With 91% of the vote tabulated, as of 11:00 p.m. local time, Mamdani secured 426,780 votes, 43.5% of the total. He came in a full 7 points above his nearest rival, Andrew Cuomo, dealing a blow to the former governor's attempt to revive his career after resigning from office in disgrace four years ago.
