The USDA Forest Service this week began cleanup efforts along the Virginia Creeper Trail on national forest lands following damage from Hurricane Helene.
Debris and downed trees left by Hurricane Helene will be cleared from part of the Virginia Creeper Trail starting Wednesday.
The road’s reopening will come as a relief to commuters whose usual 10-to-15-mile trips from the eastern part of the county toward Damascus have become 30-mile detours along winding country roads.
