The city of Boulder, Colorado, has disciplined five police officers for not fully investigating crimes, including one of the lead investigators in the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

Known best for his time as a detective, specifically on the JonBenet Ramsey murder case, Boulder police Commander Thomas Trujillo has retired after 38 years with the department.

Justin Claude Trujillo, 28, fired a handgun at deputies before all three returned fire, striking Trujillo twice, according to a Wednesday news release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
