Uchi alumnus chef Joe Zoccoli is opening Italian restaurant Casa Bianca on East Cesar Chavez Street.

Casa Bianca al Mare has served as the backdrop to several cult films in the 60s and is a location loved by celebrities, having welcomed artists including the Rolling Stones and Ray Charles.

He was 83. Martorana, who founded Casa Bianca Pizza Pie in the mid-1950s, died Sunday at his Pasadena home of complications related to a brain tumor, said his daughter, Andrea Martorana.
