Portland’s WNBA expansion team unveils new name and logo
In December, T oronto announced their name would be the Tempo. On Tuesday, Portland took its turn, unveiling the team’s new logo and name, the Fire. With the reveal, the team is reviving the former WNBA franchise in the city. The original Portland Fire lasted three seasons, beginning in 2000 and ending following the 2002 season.

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Rose City’s new WNBA team has a name: the Portland Fire. The team on Tuesday announced the professional women’s basketball team will be called the Fire. The team says the name is “rooted in the resilience, spirit, and passion for sport that defines the Rose City.”
