The Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk held a re-designation ceremony to officially install the base as Fort Polk once again.

An honor guard ceremony was scheduled after, with pallbearers representing the 369th Regiment, an all-Black unit from World War I known as the Harlem Hellfighters.

Sgt. Henry Lincoln Johnson, 369th Infantry (“Harlem Hellfighters”), who single-handedly fought off a German raiding party to save his comrade, Private Needham Roberts, in 1918.

The city received permission from the state to house migrants at the former Lincoln Correctional Facility in Harlem, the mayor's office said Saturday.
