Her son, the 12th Duke of Devonshire, said: “It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, has passed away peacefully this morning.” She was 94.

She is the dowager duchess of Devonshire, now 85, known to family and friends as “Debo,” the youngest and last surviving of the notorious and endlessly fascinating Mitford sisters.
