City Council member Steve Kozachik, who represents the area, told me he thinks the 100-Acre Wood could make a great site for a sanctioned homeless camp with more controls and fewer people.
In May 2024, the city of Tucson started clearing the park out after offering outreach for the homeless for two years. That move was to allow Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to do testing for PFAS.
The 100-Acre Wood, often called “The Acres” is located near the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and has become Tucson’s largest homeless encampment.
