The Lions re-signed former Saints draft pick Marcus Davenport, who is attempting an NFL comeback after a series of devastating injuries.

Davenport had surgical repair for this injury which ended his season. He only played in two games all year. It was reported on ESPN that the injury was a triceps tear. No video here as the moment of injury was unknown.

Ahead of next week’s free-agent market opening, the Lions have reportedly re-signed linebackers Derrick Barnes, Anthony Pittman and Ezekiel Turner, along with Davenport.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes has typically prioritized signing the team's own free agents. Prior to the legal tampering period, Detroit has already re-signed linebacker Derrick Barnes and defensive end Marcus Davenport. Linebackers Anthony Pittman and Ezekiel Turner are also returning to Detroit in 2025.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Lions have released Za'Darius Smith. Smith spent the second half of the 2024 season with the Lions to try and bolster the team's pass rush while they dealt with the absence of Aidan Hutchinson.

After missing 15 games last season, pass rusher Marcus Davenport is reportedly returning to the Detroit Lions on a one-year deal.
