Trading Frederic is the first sell-off by the Bruins, who are among the teams vying for the final couple of playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

The Edmonton Oilers are acquiring forward Trent Frederic in a trade with the Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils.

Trent Frederic was traded to the Edmonton Oilers by the Boston Bruins as part of a three-team trade also involving the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Boston traded Frederic to New Jersey in exchange for unsigned forward Petr Hauser and retained 50 percent of the Frederic's salary.
