Elon Musk is complaining about the firestorm of criticism that has engulfed his work with the Trump administration. After calling out President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” for undermining the work of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency—which Trump tasked with culling thousands of workers from the federal government—the Tesla billionaire is also claiming that his task force is being unfairly blamed for the failings of others.

Elon Musk has said he is leaving the Trump administration after helping lead a tumultuous drive to shrink the size of US government that saw thousands of federal jobs axed. In a post on his social media platform X, the world's richest man thanked Trump for the opportunity to help run the Department of Government Efficiency, known as Doge.
He described how Elon and his brother Kimbal confronted him after he expressed support for Mr Trum p during a gathering attended by about 50 Americans. Mr Musk Snr said: “Elon was saying that Trump is evil, and you know you're also evil to support him. They came down on me... How could I be so stupid?”
