China’s Zheng Qinwen has spoken about her struggle to find a usable pair of shoes for grass-court tennis after again changing footwear at the Queen’s Club Championships in London. Olympic champion Zheng changed her shoes during the sixth game of the deciding set of her semi-final defeat by Amanda Anisimova of the United States on Saturday.

When Zheng and Rybakina meet in Berlin, it will be their fourth meeting and the second one on grass. En route to winning the 2022 Wimbledon title, the Kazakh beat the Chinese in the third round and she also claimed a win in their 2023 Beijing meeting.

Emma Raducanu is out of Queen’s Club after falling to a 6-2 6-4 defeat to the Olympic champion and top seed Qinwen Zheng. The new British No 1 squandered a double-break advantage in the second set as Zheng six of the final seven games to book her place in the semi-finals.

Top seed Zheng Qinwen and unseeded American Amanda Anisimova broke new ground with wins in the quarterfinals of the HSBC Championships on Friday, as both sealed a spot in a grass-court semifinal for the first time.
