Howe Fire initially started 6:19 p.m. June 16 in Ventura County, California. After being active for three days, it has burned 44 acres. By Thursday afternoon, a crew of four firefighters has achieved full containment of the blaze. The cause of it is still under investigation.

Firefighters in Ventura County were battling two brush fires Monday night. The Howe fire, the larger blaze, had blackened about 40 acres and was burning in steep terrain south of the unincorporated town of Piru in the area around the Santa Clara River.

The Howe fire near Torrey Canyon and East Guiberson roads, just south of Piru and the Santa Clara River, has grown overnight to 34 acres with zero containment. About 18 miles west, the larger Maria fire is at 60 acres,
