Sports Illustrated reported on Monday that USC and Notre Dame are struggling to come to a long-term agreement to extend its rivalry series, which has been played yearly (sans 2020) since World War II.
USC officials insist the school is not trying to kill its prestigious college football series with Notre Dame and instead is seeking shorter contracts.
Notre Dame and USC do not have a scheduling agreement beyond 2025. Marcus Freeman made his rivalry stance clear on Thursday.
