The Supreme Court appears poised to issue a ruling in favor of a straight woman's discrimination case, reversing a lower court's decision that required a higher burden of proof.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a "reverse discrimination" case, in which a straight plaintiff sued her state agency employer for passing her over for a promotion because she is straight.

The outcome of the case could remove an additional requirement that some courts apply when members of a majority group, including those who are white and heterosexual, sue for discrimination under federal law.
