Tropical Depression Chantel brought heavy rain, flash flooding and tornado warnings to Alamance County on Sunday.

The storm flooded roads, downed trees and stranded residents across the central part of the state. It is headed northeast toward Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued tropical storm warnings for coastal New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender counties. NWS says the storm will bring threats of gusty winds, heavy rainfall and localized storm surges.
