Mayor Eric Adams on Saturday marked the final chapter of the infamous migrant tent city at Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field — and apologized to New Yorkers for the massive shelter placed in their backyards.

The city opening a massive new migrant shelter in the Bronx, the Daily News has learned — a sign that city is still wrestling with the tens of thousands of migrants in the city’s care despite dozens of shelter closures.

Sections of the federally owned airfield's runways were leased to New York City to be used as a shelter site for up to 500 migrant families in September 2023 after Adams criticized President Joe Biden for not doing enough to help manage the flow of migrants into the five boroughs.

The controversial shelter at 47 Hall St. in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood, which housed roughly 3,350 single male migrants at the peak of the crisis, is among the handful of taxpayer-funded sites expected to close in June, according to city officials.

The Adams administration will shutter 13 more emergency migrant shelters, including a massive Brooklyn facility where 3,500 migrants currently reside, as the number of asylum seekers traveling to the city continues to recede,

The new closures include Hall Street in Brooklyn, one of the city's largest facilities which houses 3,500 migrants.
