Multiple agencies are working to contain a wildfire burning in McDowell County, officials said Tuesday. The fire is located near Armstrong Creek Road off NC 226 north of Marion, North Carolina. The fire has spread 30 acres and was 30% contained as of 6 p.

As of 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30, firefighters were continuing burnout operations in McDowell County on the North Fork Fire, which has grown to 200 acres and is 20% contained.

A 52-acre wildfire in McDowell County is now 90% contained, the U.S. Forest Service says. The fire is burning in a area hit hard by Helene.
