More than 200 Palestinians were killed in overnight Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-ruled enclave's Ministry of Health said, as Hamas accused Israel of violating a fragile ceasefire deal.

Hamas led the deadly attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, that ignited the war and Israel’s devastating bombardment of the enclave. Both sides agreed to a cease-fire in mid-January, and the new strikes came while negotiations to proceed to the second phase of the fragile truce had stalled.

For Palestinians, the renewed strikes brought a sudden return to the carnage and terror of the 15-month-long war.
