A Chicago White Sox fan was banned indefinitely from all ballparks after a comment directed at Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte during Tuesday's game.

The Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox closed out their series on Wednesday afternoon — one day after Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte was visibly upset on the field. At the time, it was unclear what had happened in the seventh inning as Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was seen consoling Marte on the field.

The fan who caused Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte to break down in tears Tuesday night after heckling the player about his dead mother has been banned from all MLB stadiums, the league said Wednesday. Marte's mother died in a 2017 car crash in the Dominican Republic.
