Donald Trump is once again the laughingstock of the internet after his shocking decision Wednesday to issue a 90-day pause on some of his sweeping tariffs—with the exception of China—after the White House insisted for days that the president had no intention to hit the brakes.

Pundits and social media users quickly mocked the Trump administration for imposing tariffs on islands that are unoccupied by humans and questioned whether any research went into enacting the tariffs. The Heard and McDonald Islands are also home to Australia’s two active volcanoes.
